Thermo Scientific™ HIGHPlate™ Swinging Bucket Rotors are a specialized, high-capacity solution designed specifically for nucleic acid and protein filtration protocols. Its unique windshielded design reduces air friction and noise while preventing sample heating during high-speed runs, which is critical for maintaining the integrity of temperature-sensitive biomolecules. With the ability to accommodate up to 10 standard microplates or 2 deep-well plates in a single run, the HIGHPlate rotor significantly increases throughput for laboratories performing DNA purification, protein precipitation, or high-volume library screenings. Its 90° swinging tilt angle ensures that centrifugal force is applied vertically through the filter membranes, providing consistent and uniform filtration across all wells.
Accommodate 10 standard or 2 deepwell plates or 1 filtration plate for nucleic acid and protein filtration with the Thermo Scientific™ HIGHPlate™ Windshielded Swinging Bucket Rotor.
Key Functional Benefits:
Optimized for Filtration: Specifically engineered for the high RCF required to pull viscous liquids or buffers through dense filter membranes in DNA/RNA purification kits.
Windshielded Aerodynamics: The included rotor cross windshield and lid minimize drag, allowing the centrifuge motor to reach maximum speeds more efficiently while keeping the chamber quiet.
Versatile Plate Handling: Beyond standard and deep-well plates, this rotor is ideal for specialized filtration plates used in protein chromatography and sample clarification.
Comprehensive Kit: The rotor package comes ready for installation, including essential lubricants and a specialized windshield to ensure long-term performance.
Operational Insights:
Centrifuge Compatibility: This rotor is specifically designed for use with large-capacity centrifuges, including the Sorvall™ Legend™ RT/T Plus, Heraeus™ Multifuge™ 4, and Cryofuge™ 5500i.
Lubrication Protocol: To prevent the buckets from sticking, apply the included grease (70006692) to the rotor pins and the lubricant (76003500) to the windshield contact points regularly as per the manual (50073893).
Balanced Loading: Even when only processing a single filtration plate, you must use a "balance plate" of equal weight in the opposite bucket to prevent excess vibration and potential damage to the drive shaft.
Please Note: Performance may vary by centrifuge model.
