For fermentative species, adding a layer of sterile paraffin oil to the surface creates anaerobic conditions that favor their isolation. Alternatively, placing the acidified broth on a rotary shaker favors the recovery of fermentative and oxidative strains while preventing mold sporulation. This precise control over environmental factors ensures robust and targeted fungal growth.
