Wide Form Porcelain Crucibles
Manufacturer: United Scientific
Description
Standardized sizes to accommodate micro-analytical work through bulk sample ashing.
Features:
- Exceptional Thermal Range: Safe for use in muffle furnaces and over Bunsen burners, maintaining structural integrity up to 1150°C.
- Chemical Durability: Highly resistant to most laboratory reagents; the glazed surface prevents sample absorption and facilitates thorough cleaning.
- Optimized Wide Form: The lower height and wider diameter compared to "tall form" crucibles provide greater stability and a larger surface area for oxygen-rich ashing.
- Total Containment: Each unit includes a fitted lid, essential for preventing "spitting" or the loss of volatile components during intense heating.
Critical Usage Guidelines:
- CAUTION! Thermal Stress Prevention: To avoid cracking or shattering, do not exceed a heating or cooling rate of 200°C per hour. Always allow crucibles to cool in a desiccator or on a ceramic heat-resistant mat.
- Chemical Limitations: Do not use with Hydrofluoric acid (HF), as it will dissolve the porcelain and glaze.
- Handling: Always use stainless steel crucible tongs to handle hot porcelain to prevent thermal transfer and ensure operator safety.
