VWR® Grade 696 Glass Fiber Filters are engineered for demanding environmental monitoring and sensitive biochemical applications. Manufactured from binder-free borosilicate glass microfibers, these filters provide a chemically inert matrix that prevents sample contamination and ensures optimal analytical results. With a fine 1.2 µm pore size, they offer an exceptional balance of fast flow rates and high-loading capacity, making them the preferred choice for filtering high concentrations of particulates in seawater, wastewater, and biological fluids.
Choose VWR® Grade 696 Glass Fiber Filters for a fast, reliable, and high-capacity solution for all your demanding filtration needs.
Features:
The binder-free construction ensures consistent, low-background results, making Grade 696 specifically recommended for monitoring sensitive pollutants like mercury where high extractables could compromise data
Specifically designed for filtering seawater particulates and suspended solids due to its high resistance to aggressive saline environments
The deep, three-dimensional matrix of glass fibers allows the filter to process significantly more sample volume before clogging compared to traditional cellulose papers
Widely utilized in Radioimmunoassay (RIA) procedures and for the efficient harvesting of lymphocytes and other cell cultures
Fast flow rates significantly reduce filtration time, even when handling viscous or particulate-heavy samples
Application & Care Guidelines:
Handling: Glass fiber filters are delicate. Always use flat-tipped forceps to handle the edges to prevent tearing or compromising the fiber matrix
Vacuum Filtration: For best results, use with a vacuum filtration setup. Ensure the filter is centered and slightly wetted with a small amount of ultra-pure water or buffer before applying full vacuum to create an even seal
Pre-Cleaning: For trace-level analysis (e.g., heavy metals), it is recommended to pre-rinse the filter with a dilute acid or the sample solvent to remove any potential trace atmospheric contaminants
