Violet Red Bile Glucose Agar Dehydrated Culture Media
Manufacturer: Neogen Inc.
Description
The medium’s core strength is its broad yet selective detection, conforming to Harmonized USP/EP/JP Requirements and ISO 21528:2017. Selectivity is provided by Bile Salts and Crystal Violet, which inhibit Gram-positive and non-enteric organisms. Differentiation relies on Glucose fermentation, which produces acid and a characteristic red color change in colonies (inferred from the Neutral Red dye in the base formula). The overlay procedure, standard for use with this agar, suppresses non-fermentative organisms, ensuring a highly accurate Enterobacteriaceae count.
Please note: Violet Red Bile Glucose Agar is for laboratory use in the enumeration of Enterobacteriaceae and is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans.
Features:
- Used for the enumeration of the entire Enterobacteriaceae group in foods
