The Thermo Scientific™ Heat Transfer Fluids are specifically formulated to maximize the efficiency and longevity of refrigerated and heated bath circulators. Choosing the correct fluid is critical for maintaining stable temperatures, protecting internal pumps, and ensuring safety across extreme thermal gradients. Whether you are performing ultra-low temperature research at -75°C or high-temperature industrial processing at +300°C, these fluids provide high thermal conductivity and low viscosity. These products are ideal for use with ARCTIC and GLACIER series circulators, offering superior resistance to oxidation and thermal breakdown.
Select the fluid that matches your specific operating range. Using a fluid outside its specified range can cause freezing at low ends or hazardous flashpoints/fuming at high ends.
Key Functional Benefits:
Extended Life Cycles: Synthetic and silicone-based fluids are designed to resist "sludging" and carbonization, keeping your circulator’s heating elements and cooling coils clean.
Corrosion Protection: The THERMO200 solution and Nalco additives protect the metallic components of your bath from pitting and oxidation, especially in water-based systems.
Broadest Thermal Spectrum: From the Sil 100 for cryogenic applications to the Sil 300 for high-heat oil baths, these fluids cover a combined range of 375°C.
Safety First: Formulated with high flash points relative to their operating temperatures to ensure a safe laboratory environment during high-heat runs.
Maintenance & Safety Insights:
Fluid Expansion: Remember that heat transfer oils expand when heated. When filling a bath that will be operated at high temperatures, do not fill to the maximum line while cold to avoid overflow.
Water-Based Systems: For temperatures between 5°C and 95°C, always use the Algaecide & Corrosion Inhibitor Kit to prevent biological growth and scale buildup that can clog internal pumps.
Ventilation: When operating at the upper limits of silicone oils (above 150°C), ensure the bath is used in a well-ventilated area or under a fume hood to manage potential vapors.
