Sabouraud Dextrose (SabDex) & DTM Fungal Biplates

By combining Dermatophyte Test Medium (DTM) with Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SabDex) with Chloramphenicol and Gentamicin, the system ensures that both specialized dermatophytes and general yeasts or molds are captured in one incubation cycle. The 15 mm x 100 mm biplate format provides two distinct cultivation approaches: the DTM section offers selective and differential medium for pathogenic dermatophytic fungi with color-change indicator for presumptive identification, while the Sabouraud Dextrose Agar section with Chloramphenicol and Gentamicin provides enhanced bacterial suppression for selective isolation of fungi including yeasts and molds. This dual-media strategy eliminates the need for separate plates, conserving sample volume and incubator space while enabling comparative evaluation between differential dermatophyte detection and general fungal cultivation. The antibiotic supplementation in both formulations provides stringent bacterial inhibition for specimens with high bacterial loads.
