The caps, made from Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), are designed to withstand dry heat sterilization up to 180°C. Their open top design is specifically for use with a septum, which is sold separately. The septa themselves are available in two types: a Silicone Septum that is both autoclavable and dry heat sterilizable, and a PTFE Faced Silicone Septum that offers enhanced chemical resistance. This versatility, combined with their ability to provide a reliable seal after being pierced with a needle, makes this a robust and indispensable system for a wide variety of sterile applications.
