LABeler™ Handheld Lab Printers
Manufacturer: MTC Bio
Description
Designed specifically for complex laboratory environments, the LABeler supports over 15 size, color, and material tape combinations. Standard label tapes are engineered to withstand extreme thermal stress, allowing labeled vessels to be safely autoclaved, boiled, or deep-frozen down to -50°C. For advanced biobanking, specialized Ultra-Low Temperature (ULT) tapes are available to survive storage in -196°C liquid nitrogen environments.
Key Functional Benefits:
- Vessel Adaptability: Ribbon choices range from ultra-narrow 6mm widths—perfect for small 0.5mL microcentrifuge tube caps—up to wide 24 mm tapes designed for large media bottles, beakers, and storage boxes
- Crisp Barcode Resolution: Eliminates human reading errors on the bench by printing high-contrast, scannable barcodes directly onto chemical and biological sample containers
- Smudge-Free Adhesion: Unlike hand-written markers that fade or blur when exposed to alcohol spray, moisture, or condensation, thermal-printed LABeler lines stay readable
Laboratory Labeling Best Practices:
- Cryogenic Adhesion Rule: When applying the ULT white tape options, make sure the surface of your plastic tube or vial is completely dry, clean, and at room temperature before sticking it on. Press down firmly across the entire label area to secure the chemical adhesive bound before dropping it into deep-freeze environments or liquid nitrogen vapor.
- Autoclave Preparation: Standard white and clear cassettes are ideal for glassware undergoing steam sterilization. Ensure that labels are applied flatly with no lifted edges where pressurized steam can pool.
- Color-Coded Management: Leverage the colored 12mm tapes (Yellow, Red, Blue, Green) to visually segregate safety levels, distinct research projects, patient cohorts, or expiration dates inside your workspace.
