Description
Ultra-low temperature storage boxes are designed to hold 1.2 mL to 2.0 mL cryogenic storage vials. An excellent and long-lasting replacement for cardboard boxes, they are fully autoclavable and withstand temperatures ranging from -196°C to 121°C. They are compatible with all standard 5.25 inch (133 mm) freezer racks. Clear lids are hinged and have printed indexing for sample identification purposes.

Cryogenic Storage Best Practices:
- Vial Selection Tip: The 100-place box (R2200) utilizes a tighter inner grid configuration. For standard internally threaded cryovials, the 100-place format works beautifully. If you utilize externally threaded vials with bulkier lip caps, select the 81-place box (R2281) to ensure adequate breathing room between samples.
- Autoclaving Protocol: When autoclaving these boxes for sterile workflows (121°C at 15 psi), keep the hinged lids unlatched or slightly cracked. This prevents internal vacuum pressure changes from warping the polycarbonate hinge pins.
- Thawing Safety: Always handle boxes pulled directly from the liquid nitrogen liquid phase with full cryogenic safety gloves and a face shield. Trapped LN2 inside sample tubes can rapidly expand during thawing, creating a minor pressure hazard.
