Description
The medium's unique formula, prepared according to the APHA and US EPA standards, is both selective and differential. The presence of Sodium Deoxycholate and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate inhibits the growth of unwanted Gram-positive bacteria, while the fermentation of lactose by coliforms results in a characteristic metallic sheen. This distinct visual indicator simplifies presumptive identification. m-Endo Agar is often used as the second step in a two-step membrane filtration procedure, following enrichment in Lauryl Tryptose Broth for higher coliform counts.
Please note: This product must NOT be autoclaved and requires the addition of non-denatured Ethanol during preparation. It is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans.
