DMEM (Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium)

Corning® DMEM is manufactured and tested under stringent quality control procedures to guarantee maximum performance and safety for your sensitive cell lines. The media is available in various formulations that differ in concentration or presence of components such as glucose, sodium pyruvate, sodium bicarbonate, and L-glutamine, allowing you to select the precise environment for your specific cells.

Corning®'s liquid and powder DMEM products undergo comprehensive testing to assure maximum safety and performance:

• Growth Promotion and Cytotoxicity: Product functionality is determined by growth-promotion analysis, measuring harvest-to-plant ratios against pre-determined specifications. Testing also ensures the medium is non-toxic to cells.
• Physiochemical Properties: Rigorous testing for pH and osmolality is performed using calibrated equipment traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Powders are also tested for residual moisture.
• Biological Tests (Sterility & Endotoxin): Quality release testing ensures low levels of contamination. Standard liquid media must have an endotoxin level of 0.25 EU/mL (using the LAL chromogenic assay). Products are also tested for sterility and mycoplasma using a large-volume method.
