LabChem’s Inorganic Carbon Standard (1000 ppm) is a critical calibration material designed for high-stakes elemental analysis. Meticulously prepared to a concentration where 1 mL = 1 mg Carbon (C), this solution provides a stable and traceable reference point for calibrating Total Organic Carbon (TOC) analyzers and other carbon determination instruments. The formulation utilizes a precisely balanced mixture of Sodium Carbonate (Na2CO3) and Sodium Bicarbonate (NaHCO3). By utilizing this pre-standardized, ready-to-use solution, laboratories eliminate the technical hurdles and potential for error inherent in manual reagent preparation, ensuring absolute integrity and reproducibility in environmental and industrial water testing.
Available in two sizes to support periodic calibration checks or high-frequency analytical workflows.
Key Functional Benefits:
Traceable Accuracy: Each lot is standardized to guarantee a precise 1000 ppm concentration, providing the high level of confidence required for regulatory compliance and audit trails.
Ready-to-Use Convenience: Skips the time-consuming steps of drying primary standard powders and performing precise volumetric dilutions.
Stable Formulation: The specific carbonate-bicarbonate blend is engineered for long-term stability, resisting concentration shifts that can occur with improperly stored in-house preparations.
Universal Compatibility: Ideal for the calibration and verification of all major brands of TOC and IC (Inorganic Carbon) analytical systems.
Please refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for complete handling and safety information.
Standard Handling & Best Practices
Contamination Prevention: Atmospheric CO_2 can affect the concentration of inorganic carbon standards over time. Always minimize the duration the bottle is open and avoid pipetting directly from the stock bottle; pour a small aliquot into a secondary clean vessel instead.
Dilutions: If your instrument requires a multi-point calibration curve, use high-purity, carbon-free deionized water (Type I) for all serial dilutions to maintain the integrity of the 1000 ppm reference.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Ensure the cap is tightly sealed to prevent evaporation, which would artificially increase the ppm concentration.
