KF Streptococcus Agar Dehydrated Culture Media

The medium's selective power comes from Sodium Azide, which effectively inhibits the growth of Gram-negative bacteria. For differentiation, a triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) solution is added after sterilization. Fecal streptococci reduce the TTC, producing a bright red color and resulting in the formation of distinct red colonies, which makes for easy and definitive presumptive identification.
