KF Streptococcus Agar Dehydrated Culture Media
Manufacturer: Neogen Inc.
Description
The medium's selective power comes from Sodium Azide, which effectively inhibits the growth of Gram-negative bacteria. For differentiation, a triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) solution is added after sterilization. Fecal streptococci reduce the TTC, producing a bright red color and resulting in the formation of distinct red colonies, which makes for easy and definitive presumptive identification. This robust performance, combined with its compatibility with both the membrane filtration technique and the pour plate method, makes it a versatile and indispensable solution for your lab.
Please note: This product requires the aseptic addition of a triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) solution for a complete medium. It is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans.
Features:
- Selective medium for the isolation and enumeration of fecal streptococci
- Sodium Azide inhibits Gram-negative bacteria for enhanced selectivity
