Dermatophyte Test Medium (DTM) Dehydrated Culture Media
Manufacturer: Neogen Inc.
Description
The medium's primary benefit is a distinct color change from yellow to red, which serves as a key indicator of dermatophyte growth. This color change can be observed in as little as three days for rapidly growing species. The agar is highly selective, containing Cycloheximide in the base, with additional antibiotics added after sterilization to suppress saprophytic fungi, yeasts, and bacteria. This ensures that any organisms you detect are likely your target analytes. While other organisms may grow, they can be easily recognized by their distinct colonial morphology and lack of a color change.
Please note: This product is an agar base and requires the aseptic addition of Gentamicin and Chlortetracycline supplements. It is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans.
