Mannitol Salt Broth Liquid Media Ampoules
Manufacturer: GVS
Description
The medium's selective power comes from a high salt concentration (7.5% sodium chloride), which inhibits the growth of most bacteria other than staphylococci. For differentiation, mannitol is included as a fermentable carbohydrate and phenol red as a pH indicator. As pathogenic staphylococci ferment the mannitol, they produce acid, causing the medium to turn a distinct yellow. Non-fermenters will produce a reddish-pink color. This combination of powerful selection and a clear visual result makes this broth an indispensable tool for your food, water, and pharmaceutical analysis.
