Ferrous Ammonium Sulfate, 0.05M (0.05N) (For Nitrogen (Nitrite) Analysis)
Manufacturer: LabChem Inc.
Description
Features:
- Formulated to meet the specific requirements of standardized environmental methods for nitrite and nitrogen determination
- Unlike standard Ferrous Sulfate solutions which oxidize rapidly, the addition of ammonium ions provides a more stable Fe2+ concentration, extending the shelf life and reliability of the reagent
- Certified 0.05M concentration allows for direct use in equivalence point calculations, minimizing the risk of calculation errors in professional laboratory settings
- Eliminates the need to weigh hygroscopic Mohr's Salt crystals and the subsequent standardization steps, significantly speeding up laboratory throughput
Safety & Regulatory Information:
WARNING! Irritant: This solution is stabilized with a small amount of acid and may cause irritation to the skin, eyes, and respiratory tract.
- Personal Protection: Wear nitrile gloves, safety splash goggles, and a lab coat. Use in a well-ventilated area.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dark location (15°C to 30°C). Protect from excessive air exposure; oxygen will slowly oxidize the Ferrous (Fe2+) ions to the Ferric (Fe3+) state, which will eventually render the solution ineffective for nitrite analysis.
- Handling Tip: If the solution develops a distinct yellow or orange tint, significant oxidation has occurred, and the molarity should be re-verified or the solution replaced.
