Ferric Chloride Hexahydrate, ACS Reagent Grade
Manufacturer: LabChem Inc.
Description
Features:
- ACS Grade Reliability: Guaranteed to meet or exceed ACS purity specifications, ensuring reproducible results in sensitive analytical procedures and research
- Effective Coagulation Agent: Widely used in wastewater treatment "jar testing" to determine optimal dosage for removing suspended solids and phosphates
- Precise Metal Etching: A standard reagent in metallurgy for etching copper and stainless steel, providing consistent and controlled removal of metal layers
- Versatile Precipitation Chemistry: Serves as a reliable source of $Fe^{3+}$ ions for the synthesis of iron-based nanoparticles, pigments, and chemical catalysts
Safety & Regulatory Information:
DANGER! Corrosive & Oxidizing: This material is highly hygroscopic (absorbs moisture from the air) and causes severe skin burns and serious eye damage. It may intensify fires when in contact with combustible materials.
- Personal Protection: Wear chemical-resistant gloves (nitrile), splash goggles, and a lab coat. Use only in a well-ventilated area or a certified fume hood.
- Storage: Store in a tightly closed, original container in a cool, dry place. Ferric Chloride is highly corrosive to most metals; ensure it is stored away from aluminum, magnesium, and strong bases.
- Hygroscopic Nature: Keep the bottle tightly sealed immediately after use. If exposed to air, the crystals will absorb water and eventually liquify (deliquesce).
