4M KCl Electrode Filling Solution (Sat. with AgCl)
Manufacturer: LabChem Inc.
Description
Features:
- Reference Stability: The high molarity of KCl ensures a consistent junction potential, which is critical for precise pH measurements in varied sample types.
- Electrode Preservation: Saturation with AgCl is essential for electrodes with a silver/silver-chloride reference system; using a non-saturated solution will "strip" the AgCl from the internal lead, causing electrode drift.
- Ready-to-Use: Standardized by LabChem to ensure immediate compatibility with major electrode brands (Orion, Metrohm, Hanna, etc.).
- Versatile Use: Can be used both as a refill solution and as a storage solution (in the protective cap) to keep the glass sensing membrane hydrated and responsive.
Safety & Handling:
NOTE! Minimal Hazard: This solution is classified as non-hazardous under GHS standards. However, the high salt content can be mildly irritating to skin or eyes.
- Personal Protection: Wear standard laboratory PPE, including safety glasses and nitrile gloves.
- Storage: Store at room temperature (15°C-30°C). Keep the bottle tightly sealed. If crystals appear at the cap (salt creep), they can be rinsed away with deionized water.
- Maintenance Tip: Always ensure the filling solution level inside the electrode is higher than the sample level to prevent sample ingress into the reference junction.
