EDTA Reagent, 50% w/v, Nitrogen (Ammonia & Organic)
Manufacturer: LabChem Inc.
Description
Features:
- Maximum Chelating Power: The 50% concentration is specifically intended for highly complex matrices where standard 5% or 10% EDTA solutions are insufficient to prevent precipitation.
- Enhanced Sample Clarity: Effectively eliminates "false positives" or spiked results caused by light scattering from metal-hydroxide precipitates in the Nessler or Phenate methods.
- Ready-to-Use Accuracy: Eliminates the significant difficulty of achieving such high-solubility concentrations from powdered EDTA disodium salt in a manual lab setting.
- Method Compliance: Supports specialized variations of EPA 350.1 and APHA 4500-NH₃ for industrial effluent and agricultural runoff testing.
Safety & Handling
CAUTION! Alkaline & Concentrated: This reagent is highly concentrated and contains Sodium Hydroxide to facilitate solubility. It may cause skin and serious eye irritation.
- Personal Protection: Wear standard laboratory PPE, including nitrile gloves, safety goggles, and a lab coat.
- Storage: Store at room temperature (15-30°C) in the original poly bottle. Keep tightly closed to prevent crystallization at the cap.
- Disposal: Dispose of in accordance with local environmental regulations. If used in samples with Nessler's Reagent, the waste must be treated as hazardous mercury waste.
