EDTA Reagent, 50% w/v from LabChem Inc. is a highly concentrated chelating solution designed for specialized nitrogen analysis. It is primarily used in the determination of Ammonia Nitrogen (NH3-N) and Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN). In these methods, high concentrations of divalent cations like Calcium (Ca2+) and Magnesium (Mg2+) can precipitate and cause turbidity, which interferes with accurate colorimetric or spectrophotometric readings. This 50% solution provides maximum sequestering power for samples with extreme mineral hardness.

Safety & Handling
CAUTION! Alkaline & Concentrated: This reagent is highly concentrated and contains Sodium Hydroxide to facilitate solubility. It may cause skin and serious eye irritation.
- Personal Protection: Wear standard laboratory PPE, including nitrile gloves, safety goggles, and a lab coat.
- Storage: Store at room temperature (15-30°C) in the original poly bottle. Keep tightly closed to prevent crystallization at the cap.
- Disposal: Dispose of in accordance with local environmental regulations. If used in samples with Nessler's Reagent, the waste must be treated as hazardous mercury waste.
