EDTA Decontaminating Solution, for Radium
Manufacturer: LabChem Inc.
Description
Features:
- Targeted Radionuclide Removal: Specifically formulated to address Radium, but also effective for scavenging other harmful isotopes like Uranium, Strontium, and Cobalt-60.
- High Decontamination Factor: Chemical chelation ensures that radionuclides remain bound in the liquid phase, significantly reducing the risk of redeposition on the cleaned surface.
- Surface Compatibility: Safe for use on a wide variety of laboratory materials, including zircaloy cladding, inconel, and common benchtop surfaces.
- Time-Efficient Formula: Provides a fast-acting response to surface spills or routine decommissioning activities, helping to maintain ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) radiation levels.
Safety & Handling:
IMPORTANT! Non-Hazardous Base: The solution itself is categorized as non-hazardous under GHS standards; however, once it comes into contact with radionuclides, the resulting waste is radioactive.
- Personal Protection: Wear full radiologic PPE, including double gloves, a lab coat, and eye protection. Work in a specially prepared radiation-safe area.
- Storage: Store at room temperature (15°C-30°C) in its original poly bottle.
- Disposal: Strict Protocol Required. Mobilized radionuclides in the spent solution pose serious environmental risks. Follow all facility, state, and federal regulations for the disposal of radioactive liquid waste.
