Septa Selection Guide:
- PTFE (0.010 in): Best for single injections. Excellent chemical resistance but limited resealability
- PTF/Red Rubber (0.040 in): The most economical choice for routine GC analysis. Offers good resealability for non-critical applications
- Red PTFE/Silicone: The industry standard for HPLC and GC. Provides high purity, excellent resealability for multiple injections, and easy needle penetration
- PTFE/Silicone/PTFE (0.040 in): Features a PTFE layer on both sides to minimize coring and protect the silicone from aggressive solvents before and after puncture
Application Insight: 8-425 vs. 9 mm R.A.M.
While the 8-425 finish is the original narrow-opening standard, it is important to note that it has a slightly smaller opening than 9 mm R.A.M. vials. This makes it ideal for older autosampler models and applications where minimizing the evaporation surface area is critical
