Description
The heart of the kit is the Liebig Condenser, which features a straight inner tube for vapor and a surrounding outer jacket for cooling water. This design is optimized for high-speed condensation without the risk of "clogging" that can occur in coil-style condensers when processing more viscous distillates.
Each kit is a "ready-to-run" system (just add a thermometer and heat source):
- Boiling & Receiving Flasks: Two round-bottom flasks (sizes vary by kit)
- 3-Way Distilling Adapter: Connects the boiling flask, thermometer, and condenser
- Liebig Condenser: Available in 300 mm or 500 mm lengths for efficient heat exchange
- 105° Vacuum Take-off Adapter: Guides the distillate into the receiving flask
- Support Hardware: Includes cast iron stands and coated burette clamps for stable mounting
- Keck Clamps: Set of 5 clips to secure the ground glass joints safely
- Thermometer Port: Includes a thermometer adapter
- Stands: 5 in x 8 in Cast Iron Base (Kits TLDKT3000RB & TLDKT5000RB include two stands/clamps)
Safety and Optimization Tips:
- It is highly recommended to use a heating mantle or oil bath with these round-bottom flasks to ensure even heat distribution and prevent bumping
- Always ensure the cooling water enters the condenser from the bottom port and exits through the top port to prevent air pockets and ensure maximum cooling efficiency
