The standout addition to this kit is the Vigreux Column. Unlike a standard simple distillation setup, the Vigreux column contains a series of internal downward-pointing indentations. These glass "spikes" dramatically increase the internal surface area, providing multiple "theoretical plates" where vapor can condense and re-evaporate. This process significantly improves the purity of the distillate by ensuring that only the most volatile components reach the Liebig Condenser at any given time.

Each kit is a "ready-to-run" system (just add a thermometer and heat source):

Important Usage Notes:

• These kits do not include a thermometer. For accurate fractional distillation, a high-precision digital or glass thermometer is essential to monitor the "vapor temperature" at the top of the column
• For optimal results, ensure the Vigreux column is positioned vertically between the boiling flask and the 3-way adapter to allow reflux to return to the boiling flask
• Always connect water lines so that the coolant enters the bottom of the Liebig condenser and exits from the top to eliminate air pockets
