The macrotubes are made of polypropylene with an attached cap to provide a tight, leak proof seal from -86°C to 80°C. The attached snap-cap allows for ease of opneing and clsoing the tube with one hand. The macrotubes have the same diameter as the 15 mL tubes for centrifugation and efficiency. Contamination of pipettor shafts can be eliminated because the tube length is short enough for standard 1 mL and/or 5 mL tips to reach the tubes conical bottom.
