Brilliant Green Lactose Bile Broth Dehydrated Culture Media

The medium's selective power comes from Ox Bile and Brilliant Green dye, which inhibit the growth of most Gram-positive and non-coliform Gram-negative bacteria. For differentiation, Lactose is included as a fermentable sugar. Coliforms ferment the lactose, producing acid and gas, which is detected by the use of inverted Durham tubes during preparation. This combination of powerful selection and a clear visual result makes this broth a cornerstone of standard methods for coliform detection in a wide variety of samples.
