The inclusion of glucose facilitates the growth of many organisms, while a phosphate buffer helps to neutralize the acids produced from its utilization, maintaining the viability of your cultures. With the simple addition of 7% defibrinated blood, the medium is capable of supporting the growth of an even wider range of fastidious organisms.
