The BBL™ CultureSwab™ Plus Collection and Transport System features Amies agar gel media with oxygen-scavenging agents, for sampling of both aerobic and anaerobic organisms. The BBL™ CultureSwab™ Plus systems include all the packaging and product design features of the BBL™ CultureSwab™ line plus the following:

Patented “venturi-constriction” – creates the optimum balance of media’s surface area exposure. Helps maintain media moisture and minimize oxidation to enhance microbial survival. Centers swab in gel column
5 mL gel column – provides maximum specimen protection and improved sample viability. Available with or without charcoal. Charcoal may be used for enhanced recovery of certain fastidious organisms

Keep samples viable during transport with convenient, self-contained BD CultureSwab™ systems. Each BD CultureSwab™ tube contains a swab with a polyurethane sponge. After sampling, the swab is returned to the tube and the specimen is put in immediate contact with the medium and kept moist during transport.
