The Lab Depot Office Olympics

On August 7th, beneath the hot Georgia sun, three TLD teams engaged in a spirited competition, vying for the most gold medals. Each team showcased their athleticism and determination in a series of challenging events, determined to emerge victorious.
The Teams

Team Nine To Fivers, sporting black-and-white attire and bright white headbands, included Daniella Malcom, Matt Marshall, Mark Jones, Lynn Ryan, Emma Thomas, and team captain Shelli Allison, the longest-tenured employee at The Lab Depot.

Team Gold Metal Getters sported a ferocious desire to win and a competitive spirit. This team included Faith Rose, CEO John Seelke, CFO Jere Allen, Al Trembley, and Daniel Phillips and was headed by Gina Archer.

Finally, Team Ledecky’s Liquid Legends, headed by Caroline Seelke, included TLD members Andrea Grindle, Mike Constein, Shay Hamrick, Ashley Mitchell, and Will Bass. This team represented the colors of the Olympic rings and even had face paint that matched their respective color.
The Events
Each team rotated between three different games and ended the competition at a surprise obstacle course, the most complex challenge each team would have faced in this event.

The first game was a long-throw Corn Hole game with two rounds. Points were scored by the number of bean bags on the board or through the corn hole. Bags on the board resulted in one point, while the corn hole gave three points. In the first round, each player tossed four bean bags. The top three individuals from the first round on each team advanced to the next round to score as many points as possible.
In this game, The Gold Metal Getters dominated, scoring 36 points and gold. Ledecky’s Liquid Legends claimed silver at 22 points, and Nine To Fivers took bronze with 21 points.

The next game was Discus Throw, where teammates had five frisbee throws to score as many points as possible. Each individual could choose between three locations to throw from, with an opportunity to score 1 point, 5 points, or 10 points if they manage to get their frisbee in the basket.
Yet again, another sweeping win for Gold Metal Getters with a whopping 70 points. Nine To Fivers followed up with silver at 26 points, and Ledecky’s Liquid Legends with bronze at 23 points.

The final main game, Water Relay, required speed and care. The goal of this game was to fill as many buckets as possible with the water from a large tub gathered by a standard frisbee.
Out of sheer determination, the Nine To Fivers claimed their first gold medal with 34.25 points, followed by Ledecky’s Liquid Legends with silver at 32.75 points and The Gold Medal Getters with bronze at 26.25 points.
The Obstacle Course
The final event, the Obstacle Course, relied on individual skill, determination, and team coordination to succeed. This obstacle course went one person at a time, and the next person could only proceed once the other teammate returned. The goal of the Obstacle Course was to get through each obstacle in the shortest amount of time possible. Each obstacle went as follows:

Obstacle 1: Cones
Navigating through the strategically positioned cones demanded swift footwork and lightning-fast reflexes. Players could not step over any cones but were required to move around each one as quickly as possible.
Obstacle 2: Grounded Hula Hoops
Following the cones were four hula hoops lined in a straight row. Each player had to step through each hoop on one foot and could not touch the edge of the hoops. Failure to do so would force the player back to the start of the second obstacle.
Obstacle 3: Tennis Ball Bounce
The third obstacle required good hand-eye coordination as players walked while bouncing a ball on a tennis racket. This obstacle was easier for some than others.

Obstacle 4: Hay Bales
Finally, the Hay Bales. The Hay Bales were stacked pyramid style, and each team member had to climb over the top as quickly as possible and then dash back to their teammates for the next person to proceed.
Earning gold once again was The Gold Medal Getters, with a time of 2 minutes and 30 seconds. The Nine To Fivers earned silver with a close time of 2 minutes and 41 seconds. And scoring bronze with 3 minutes and 26 seconds was Ledecky’s Liquid Legends.
The final winners of the Office Olympics were The Gold Medal Getters, who earned three gold medals and one bronze medal for all the events. Congratulations, team!
